Barcelona getting closer to secure Spanish La Liga title

ANKARA

Leaders Barcelona are getting closer to win the Spanish La Liga after title contenders Real Madrid lost to Real Sociedad 2-0 on Tuesday evening.

Real Sociedad dashed Real Madrid’s slight hopes as Japanese winger Takefusa Kubo scored the opener after a mistake by Real Madrid defense.

Ander Barrenetxea added another goal for the White and Blues.

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal was sent off after a foul in the 61st minute as the visitors played with 10 men for at least 30 minutes.

Earlier Tuesday, Barcelona barely beat 10-man Osasuna 1-0 at Spotify Camp Nou with Spanish left-back Jordi Alba’s late strike.

La Liga leaders Barcelona boosted their points to 82 after the win.

Xavi’s men are now 14 points clear of Real Madrid with five games remaining in the league.

So, Barcelona will be able to win their first La Liga title since 2019 if they beat Espanyol on May 14.
