Barcelona bagged a 4-0 win against Cadiz in a Spanish La Liga match Saturday that was overshadowed by a medical emergency in the second half.
The match was abruptly stopped when a fan in the stands required medical intervention.
“The game has been stopped due to a medical emergency with a fan in the stands. The players are going to the locker rooms,” Barcelona said on Twitter.
Medical staff from both clubs were near the fan and provided immediate medical care.
Barcelona were leading 2-0 when the match was stopped in the 82nd minute at Cadiz’s home ground.
Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Polish forward Robert Lewandowski scored for Barcelona before the referee paused the action.
After a while, players returned to the pitch to complete the match.
Assisted by Lewandowski, Spanish winger Ansu Fati made an easy finish in the penalty area to make it 3-0 for Barcelona in minute 86.
Barcelona did not stop scoring.
French winger Ousmane Dembele scored on a solo effort in the 92nd minute.
Barcelona are leading the league with 13 points in five matches.
Cadiz lost all of their matches and are at the bottom of the La Liga standings.
