DHAKA, Bangladesh
Bangladesh invited Turkish investors to invest in its economic zones when top officials from both countries met on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Türkiye, said an official statement on Saturday.
When Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam met with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat on Friday, they discussed various important issues of bilateral trade and economic relations, said Alam’s office.
On the historical ties of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries, Bolat said the Turkish government is interested in developing economic relations with Bangladesh.
Bolat expressed interest in holding a meeting of the Türkiye-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka this year, Alam’s office added.
This January, Bolat led a delegation aiming to explore new opportunities in trade and business between the two majority-Muslim nations. They also met interim government head Muhammad Yunus and Sheikh Bashir Uddin, the trade adviser.
They discussed bringing Turkish technologies to Bangladesh, relocating Turkish factories, and potential collaborations in the defense industry, infrastructure, energy, and health tourism.
The trade volume between Türkiye and Bangladesh last year exceeded $1.3 billion with an aim to make it even bigger in the years to come.
