Azerbaijan, US discuss strategic partnership, regional security

ISTANBUL

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held talks Tuesday in Baku with Wyatt Tulkki, senior adviser at the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and US Charge d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Amy Carlon, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The meeting focused on Azerbaijan-US relations, issues stemming from the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing a Strategic Working Group to prepare a Charter of Strategic Partnership, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia under Washington agreements.

Regional and international security matters of mutual interest were also discussed.

Bayramov and the US officials underlined the importance of reciprocal visits by delegations and representatives of both countries in advancing ties.

The ministry added that the sides exchanged views on other issues of common concern.
