Atletico Madrid win their 7th match in a row to top LaLiga

Europe’s four top football leagues are led by Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga, Liverpool in the English Premier League, Atletico Madrid in the Spanish LaLiga, and Atalanta in the Italian Serie A.

No league matches were played in French Ligue 1 this week due to the cup competition.

Atletico Madrid top LaLiga 

In the Spanish LaLiga, Atletico Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 away, with goals from Rodrigo De Paul and Alexander Sorloth, to win their 7th consecutive game and take over the top spot.

Contenders Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 4-2 at home, while Athletic Bilbao, the season’s surprise contenders, won 2-1 away to Osasuna.

In the 19th matchweek, Atletico Madrid, coached by Argentine Diego Simeone, takes the top spot with 41 points. Real Madrid comes in second with 40 points, followed by Barcelona with 38 points, and Athletic Bilbao in 4th with 36 points.

Liverpool hammer Tottenham 6-3 to cement top spot 

In the English Premier League, Liverpool beat Tottenham 6-3 away, with Luis Diaz and Muhammed Salah scoring twice each, and Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai scoring once each.

Chelsea’s 5-match winning streak came to an end after returning from Everton with a goalless draw.

Arsenal, one of the contenders, beat Crystal Palace 5-1.

Aston Villa won 2-1 at home against Manchester City. Manager Pep Guardiola appears unable to turn around the Sky Blues’ bad run, as they suffered their sixth defeat in the last eight weeks.

Bournemouth hammered Manchester United 3-0 to grab their fourth win in the last 5 weeks.

In week 17 of the league, Liverpool maintained its lead with 39 points and one game remaining. Chelsea and Arsenal trail Liverpool with 35 and 33 points, respectively.

Bayern Munich trash contenders Leipzig 5-1

In the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich trashed contenders Leipzig 5-1 with the goals from Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane, and Alphonso Davies.

Defending champions Bayer Leverkusen beat Freiburg 5-1 at home to get their 5th win in a row.

Turkish coach Nuri Sahin’s Borussia Dortmund defeated Wolfsburg 3-1 and got their first away win this season.

Eintracht Frankfurt lost 3-1 to Mainz 05 and lost points for the third time in a row.

Bayern Munich, with 36 points at the end of week 15, continued to lead the standings, followed by Bayer Leverkusen (32), Eintracht Frankfurt (27), and Leipzig (27).

Atalanta cement top spot with 11th consecutive win in Serie A

Italian Serie A leaders Atalanta beat Empoli 3-2, thanks to goals from Charles De Ketelaere (2) and Ademola Lookman, to win their 11th consecutive league game.

Napoli defeated Genoa 2-1 away, while Lazio beat Lecce by the same scoreline.

Undefeated contenders Juventus beat Monza 2-1 away.

Atalanta leads the league after the 17th week, which concludes tonight with the Fiorentina-Udinese and Inter-Como matches. Napoli is next with 38 points, followed by Inter and Lazio with 34 each.
