Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus eased past Erika Andreeva of Russia in straight sets in her French Open first-round match Tuesday.
“I’m super happy to see all of you tonight supporting us. It was a great atmosphere,” Sabalenka said after the win. “I know you guys didn’t have choices because it’s raining outside.. so you had to be on this court.”
The world’s no. 2 ranked player defeated Andreeva, who is ranked no. 100, 6-1, 6-2 on the Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris in a match that lasted one hour and eight minutes.
The 2024 French Open will run through June 9.
