The Netherlands’ annual inflation rate rose to 6.1% in May from 5.2% in April, official figures showed on Tuesday.
According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), excluding energy prices, the annual inflation was at 7.9% in May, up from 7.8% in April.
It said: “The price development of energy (electricity, gas and district heating) had an upward effect on the inflation rate.
“Although energy was 24.9 percent cheaper in May than in the same month last year, in April the year-on-year price decrease was 32.2 percent.”
The country’s annual inflation rate, which saw over the level of 14% last year, dropped 4.4% in March but bounced back in April.
