Albania to extradite fugitive cryptocurrency exchange founder to Türkiye

BELGRADE, Serbia

Albania on Thursday is set to extradite to Türkiye Faruk Fatih Ozer, the founder of a cryptocurrency exchange who is wanted on fraud and other charges.

The extradition process has reached the final stage, the Turkish Justice Ministry has told Anadolu.

Ozer, 27, founder of the cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, sought on charges of fraud and founding a criminal organization, fled Türkiye last year and left investors unable to get their funds.

In December, the Durres Court of Appeals in Albania upheld Ozer’s extradition order, issued after he was arrested in the country in August.

Türkiye issued an international arrest warrant after he fled with a reported $2 billion in money investors had poured into Thodex.
