Afghanistan wants to build and strengthen effective economic and trade relations with neighboring countries, the region and the world through Islamic finance and halal (lawful) trade, the Afghan minister of industry and commerce said Wednesday.
Nooruddin Azizi said at the World Halal Summit that the objectives include strengthening the agricultural sector, developing infrastructure, supporting the domestic industry, maintaining financial stability, encouraging domestic and foreign investment and providing benefits to all stakeholders.
The four-day summit in Istanbul, of which Anadolu is the global communication partner, hosts seminars focused on halal-related topics to raise awareness.
Azizi said the summit is one of the largest trade events in the Islamic world and noted it is a platform to cement global halal trade.
He underlined that the halal industry, halal trade and halal products are not only serving for Islamic world or Muslims, but also all of humanity.
“As an Islamic country, Afghanistan, with its commitment to the halal industry and trade, has actively participated in this event with a delegation of officials from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the private sector,” he said, noting that over time, the world will appreciate the advantages of the halal industry and trade even more.
Stating that local and international investors can safely invest in Afghanistan, Azizi said, “Afghanistan and Türkiye, as two Muslim and brotherly countries, have maintained very good relations in economic, cultural and social fields throughout history.
“In this context, Afghanistan aims to introduce halal products and services to global markets and attract foreign investment, especially from Türkiye, a friendly and brotherly country.”
