Portugal edged out Norway 2–1, holding onto their narrow lead in a hard-fought UEFA Nations League Group A4 clash in Oslo on Sunday.
The match saw goals from Portugal’s Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos and Norway’s Erling Haaland.
Norway made the stronger start, using the energy of the home crowd to press Portugal and repeatedly looking for Haaland in the penalty area.
Portugal gradually settled into the game and took the lead in the 17th minute. Felix received the ball outside the box and fired a precise effort toward the left post, leaving Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland unable to reach it.
Norway had chances to respond before halftime but struggled to find a decisive finish as Portugal went into the break ahead.
The hosts eventually drew level in the 51st minute. Martin Odegaard’s free kick was initially saved by Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa, but the rebound fell to Haaland, who finished from close range.
Portugal restored their lead just three minutes later following a costly error by Nyland.
The Norway goalkeeper attempted to play the ball out from a goal kick but passed directly to Ramos. The Portugal striker advanced toward the unguarded goal and calmly chipped the ball over Nyland to make it 2-1.
Norway then pushed forward in search of another equalizer, while Portugal dropped deeper and focused on defending their advantage.
The hosts continued to send balls into the danger area and apply pressure, but Portugal’s defense managed to deal with the attacks and secure victory.
