Turkish army chief to visit Saudi Arabia to attend Mecca defense pact chiefs of staff meeting

The Turkish chief of general staff is set to travel to Saudi Arabia on Friday to attend the Mecca Defense Alliance Chiefs of Staff Meeting.

“Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu will travel to Saudi Arabia today to attend the Mecca Defense Alliance Chiefs of Staff Meeting,” the country’s National Defense Ministry said in a statement.

No further details on the planned meeting were provided by officials.

Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan signed the defense agreement in August at a trilateral summit in Mecca, pledging to strengthen collective security, deepen defense cooperation, and promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
