Turkish stock exchange closes Friday with new records

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul on Friday rose 0.98% to close at a fresh all-time high of 2,750.49 points.

The BIST 100 index also hit an intraday record of 2,762.95 points.

After starting the day at 2,734.44 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 26.82 points from Thursday’s close of 2,723.67 points.

On a weekly basis, the BIST 100 index rose over 6.10% this week.

During the day, the index’s lowest value was 2,707.18, while its daily high was 2,762.95.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 2.2 trillion Turkish liras ($122.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 50 billion liras ($2.8 billion).

One ounce of gold traded for $1,779.50 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $95.8 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1630GMT)
