ANKARA
Turkish Airlines EuroLeague leaders Fenerbahce Beko secured a hard-fought 86-82 victory at Virtus Segafredo Bologna in a Wednesday basketball game in Italy to improve to 9-2 this season.
Led by Serbian guard Marko Guduric, Fenerbahce erased a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter of the game at Bologna’s Unipol Arena.
Guduric scored 21 points to guide the Istanbul giants to their ninth win in the EuroLeague regular season.
Nigel Hayes-Davis was another key player for Fenerbahce, producing 19 points during the match, including a vital triple near the end of the showdown. With 15 seconds to go, the US forward scored a three pointer to give his team an 84-82 lead.
Then he stole the ball while Fenerbahce were on defense. He was fouled by a Bologna player as the Italian team stopped the clock. Hayes-Davis scored his free-throws to secure the 86-82 win for Fenerbahce.
Additionally, Fenerbahce’s US forward Bonzie Colson had 18 points.
Bologna’s Georgian forward Tornike Shengelia scored a game-high 23 points. Croatian center Ante Zizic racked up 18 points for the Italian team.
US guard Matthew Morgan added 14 points for the hosts.
Bologna are now in 18th spot as they lost nine games in 11 rounds.
