Producer inflation in the US remained unchanged on a monthly basis in September, according to data released Friday.
The producer price index (PPI), which measures changes in the prices of goods and services from a producer’s perspective, was estimated to show a monthly gain of 0.1% in September.
The figure showed a 0.2% month-on-month increase in August.
On an annual basis, PPI rose 1.8% in September, coming in higher than the market expectation of a 1.6% increase.
The August annual figure, meanwhile, was revised up from a gain of 1.7% to an increase of 1.9%.
“Within final demand in September, a 0.2-percent increase in the index for final demand services offset a 0.2-percent decline in prices for final demand goods,” a Labor Department statement said.
“The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services inched up 0.1 percent in September after rising 0.2 percent in August,” it added.
Core PPI, which excludes volatile food, energy, and trade prices, showed a 0.1% monthly increase in September and registered a 3.2% year-on-year increase.
