Türkiye generated $154.7M from coffee exports in 5 years

Türkiye’s coffee exports reached $154.7 million in five years, according to data from the country’s statistical bureau TurkStat compiled by Anadolu to mark the upcoming International Coffee Day on Oct. 1.

International Coffee Day aims to raise awareness of the economic value and the social impact of coffee, drawing attention to the sustainability of coffee production.

Although not a production hub for coffee, Türkiye’s export success in coffee stands out. In 2020, coffee exports of Türkiye were valued at $20.2 million, rising to $23.8 million the next year.

In 2022, Türkiye’s coffee exports jumped to $36.5 million. This figure climbed to $39.7 million the next year.

In January-August 2024, coffee exports of Türkiye amounted to $34.5 million.

Some 146 countries chose Türkiye’s coffee, with the highest demand coming from the US, the Netherlands, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Belarus, and Saudi Arabia.

In the first eight months of this year, Belarus, the TRNC, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan were among the countries with the highest demand for Türkiye’s coffee.

Türkiye’s 5-year coffee imports amount to $1.5B

Türkiye’s coffee imports reached $1.5 billion from 2020 to August 2024. Coffee imports were at $187.6 million in 2020, rising to 221.1 million the next year.

In 2022, coffee imports to Türkiye amounted to $374 million, reaching to $437 million in 2023.

In January-August 2024, coffee imports to the country were recorded at $284.4 million.

Most of the coffee purchased by Türkiye was from Brazil, the Netherlands, and Germany.
