Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 10.5% on Feb. 4

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by 10.5% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 830,541 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 39,864 megawatt-hours at 8 p.m. local time (1700 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,015 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 830,341 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a drop of 10.8% compared to Saturday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants constituted 28% of total generation, while hydroelectricity plants and lignite plants contributed 19.6% and 14.2%, respectively.

On Sunday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 6,167 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 6,441 megawatt-hours.
