NEW YORK
Stolen data from American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has been released online by the cybercrime gang, Lockbit, according to the group’s website.
Boeing confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving elements of its parts and distribution business.
“We are aware that, in connection with this incident, a criminal ransomware actor has released information it alleges to have taken from our systems,” it said in a statement.
It noted that the incident is still under investigation and communication with law enforcement and regulatory authorities will be maintained.
While the statement assured that Boeing is confident the incident poses no threat to aircraft or flight safety, no information was provided regarding whether defense or other sensitive data had been obtained by Lockbit.
Lockbit announced last month it had acquired a significant amount of sensitive internal data from Boeing and would release it by Nov. 2 if a ransom was not paid.
