Türkiye daily power consumption up 0.31% to reach new record on Aug. 17

The daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 0.31% on Thursday compared to the previous day, reaching a new record high of 1,132,567 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Friday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 54,130 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.

The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 37,552 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production reached 1,122,543 megawatt-hours on Thursday, marking an increase of 0.53% compared to Wednesday.

Electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 29.8% of total generation, while imported coal plants and hydroelectric plants contributed 20.7% and 14%, respectively.

On Thursday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 5,311 megawatt-hours, and its imports totaled 15,335 megawatt-hours.
