In Greece’s general elections, the conservative New Democracy party led by former Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is well ahead of the main opposition SYRIZA party, according to early exit polls after the voting ended on Sunday evening.

The New Democracy party is projected to get around 40-44% of the votes, with Syriza in a range of 16.1-19.1%.

The social democratic PASOK party is on course for 10-13%, while the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) could be the fourth largest with 7.2-9.2 % of the votes.

Meanwhile, the far-right Spartans party is expected to win around 4-6% of the votes and enter the Greek parliament.

According to the exit polls, MeRA25, a left-wing party led by former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, could get about 2-4%, while another far-right Niki party could gather 2.3-4.3% of the votes.

The polls also show that the Sailing for Freedom party founded by former Parliament Speaker Zoe Constantopoulou, and the populist-far right Greek Solution party might also pass the 3% electoral threshold.
