Turkish stock exchange down at midweek close

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index fell 1.30% to close Wednesday at 4,886.91 points, snapping a four-session streak of gains.

Starting the day at 4,956.26 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 64.44 points compared to the previous close.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 4,867.95, while its daily high was 4,982.45.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 4.1 trillion Turkish liras ($198 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 90 billion Turkish liras ($4.33 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,990.95, while Brent crude oil sold for around $72.96 per barrel as of 6.24 p.m. local time (1524GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 20.7079 and the euro/lira exchange rate was 22.1965, while the British pound traded at 25.6515 liras.
