The African Games scheduled to take place in Ghana in August has been postponed until next year after a deal between major stakeholders.
Organizers said the agreement was signed by stakeholders, including the African Union, the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa and the Association of African Sports Confederations.
“The stakeholders have since signed a Negotiated Agreement on the Management and Organization of the African Games, marking a significant milestone in the planning of the 13th games,” they said.
They added that the Local Organizing Committee, in collaboration with all stakeholders, would be conducting a series of consultations from Thursday to Monday to schedule a new date and set timelines.
The event was previously scheduled for Ghana’s capital, Accra, from Aug. 4 – 19.
