Türkiye’s daily power consumption up 17.6% on Feb. 13

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 17.6% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 887,817 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 44,471 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 27,274 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 874,695 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an increase of 18.2% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 26.6% of total generation, while imported coal plants and wind energy plants contributed 23.3% and 13.8% respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 6,161 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 19,283 megawatt-hours.
