ANKARA
Galatasaray’s new signing Nicolo Zaniolo on Thursday joined the Turkish club’s aid campaign for quake victims shortly after his move from Italian Serie A team Roma.
In a video posted Friday, Italian midfielder Zaniolo, 23, came to the aid center at Galatasaray’s Nef Stadium to support work for the quake victims in Türkiye.
Alongside many volunteers and his teammates in the stadium’s parking lot, Zaniolo put packages in order before carrying them to an available spot.
Galatasaray signed Zaniolo late Wednesday, sealing a deal set to last through 2027. Last season, he helped Roma win the third-tier UEFA Europa Conference League title.
Like Galatasaray, many Turkish clubs such as Fenerbahce, Besiktas, and Trabzonspor have been working to help quake victims in the country.
Over 18,000 people were killed by Monday’s major quakes, according to the latest official figures.
The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes, centered in Kahramanmaras, affected more than 13 million people spread across 10 provinces.
