German consumer sentiment is projected to improve for the third month in a row in January, according to a GfK institute survey on Wednesday.
The GfK consumer climate indicator in Germany is forecast to increase to minus 37.8 points, up 2.3 points from December’s revised figure of minus 40.1 points.
“The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little brighter,” said Rolf Burkl, a GfK consumer expert.
This was led by more moderate energy prices than expected and the German government’s relief packages to curb energy costs.
“The recovery of the consumer sentiment, as we are currently experiencing, is still on shaky ground,” Burkl said.
