The 2023 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket will begin on Thursday.
Sixteen teams divided into four groups will join this year’s European women’s basketball championship that will be held on June 15-25 by Slovenia and Israel.
It will be the 39th edition of the tournament, and the games in Group A and B will be played in Israel’s Tel Aviv and Groups C and D will be held in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.
Serbia are the defending champions, and the Soviet Union are the record holders with 21 titles.
Four group winners in the EuroBasket 2023 will directly qualify for the quarterfinals.
The teams, who will be placed second and third in each group, will play in the qualification for the last eight.
The fourth-place teams will be eliminated from the tournament.
Ranked 11th in the globe, Türkiye are in Group D to play against Slovakia, Hungary, and defending champions Serbia.
The Turkish basketball team will face Serbia in the Group D opener on Thursday in Ljubljana, and the game will start at 1300GMT.
