Fenerbahce on Wednesday revealed that its new head coach Jose Mourinho will earn €10.5 million ($11.4 million) a year in salary.
The Istanbul-based club told Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that it signed an agreement with 61-year-old Mourinho for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 football seasons for a salary of €10.5 million per season, and his deal will end in 2026.
Mourinho, a world-famous football coach, was unveiled on Sunday as the Fenerbahce senior team’s new boss.
He was accorded a warm welcome in Istanbul, and a signing ceremony for him held at the club’s Ulker Stadium was attended by thousands of Fenerbahce fans.
Mourinho, who previously coached many big clubs in his career, won Europe’s top-flight UEFA Champions League twice, with Portugal’s Porto in 2004 and Italy’s Inter Milan in 2010.
He claimed local titles with Porto, England’s Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Mourinho previously managed Italy’s Roma to win the 2022 Europa Conference League, a third-tier UEFA club competition.
