Türkiye’s electricity production in October increased by around 4.64%, compared to the same period last year, data from the country’s energy watchdog showed on Monday.
Total electricity generation reached up to around 25.84 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in October, Türkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its latest electricity market report.
The country produced electricity from several sources including 27.1% from imported coal, 20.4% from natural gas, 16.2% from hydropower, and 13.7% from lignite.
Geothermal, biomass, solar power, hard coal, fuel oil, and asphaltite generated the remaining share.
Electricity consumption in October increased to around 22.11 million MWh, marking a 1.2% growth year-on-year.
Installed electricity capacity rose by around 1.03% to 96,722 megawatts in October, relative to October 2023.
Natural gas power plants comprised 25.4% of electricity installed capacity, while hydropower and wind plants accounted for 24.7% and 12.7%, respectively.
Imported coal, lignite, biomass, geothermal, solar power, hard coal, asphaltite, fuel oil, naphtha, LNG, and diesel also contributed to the installed capacity.
